Seamless pipes and tubes

A seamless pipe is a steel pipe that has no welding or joints. Such a pipe is manufactured from solid round billets and is subjected to dimensional and wall thickness specifications that range from 0.125 inches to 26 inches.

The seamless pipes and tubes serve a purpose in hydrocarbon industries, oil and gas transportation, oil and gas exploration and drilling, hydraulic cylinders, boilers, and automobiles, among others.

The seamless tubes are manufactured the same way as seamless pipes, but there are certain differences in the steel grades used for the manufacture of both.

Functions of Seamless Pipes and Tubes

Seamless pipes also serve utility in the food and dairy processing industries as they are used to transport food and dairy mixtures from one location of the factory to another.

The seamless tubes allow for the loading and unloading of fluids as they are leak-proof. The seamless and one-piece design of seamless pipes ensures that there is no leakage of fluids. As a result, they secure the fluids from any contamination.

Civil and Mechanical Industries

Seamless tubes are most commonly used in scaffolding, fire line shed, conveyor shed, and warehouse, among others.

Water Treatment Facilities

Since seamless steel pipes are highly durable and corrosion-resistant, they are the most suitable match for use in water treatment plants. Moreover, these pipes are very cost-effective and require very little maintenance.

Power Generation

Seamless pipes serve a great purpose in thermal power plants and hydropower plants. The steel tubes play a crucial role as they transport groundwater resources that are used to generate electricity in such industries.

The power generation industry needs corrosive resistant material which makes buttweld pipe fittings the primary choice. These pipes are made of high-quality corrosive resistant material and are installed in various locations such as heaters, furnaces, boilers, turbines, etc.

The Features of Seamless Steel Pipes

  • The cost-efficiency of seamless pipes is greatly determined by the wall thickness. Thick-walled seamless pipes are much more economical and practical. The cost of production increases sharply, the thinner the wall thickness.
  • The production process used to manufacture seamless pipes greatly determines the quality of the pipes. Low-grade seamless pipes offer uneven wall thickness, inaccuracy in diameter, low brightness in tube appearance, and the presence of black spots along the length of the tube.
  • Seamless steel pipes produced these days are far superior to ones produced in the past since the advanced technology available today meets higher quality standards.

Seamless pipes are used in a variety of situations. They are used for the manufacture of boiling water pipes, superheated steam pipes, small and large smoke pipes, and arched brick pipes, air ducts, etc.

Seamless pipes are in great demand and are given much more preference over generally welded pipes. They are commonly used in construction, gas, petrochemical, shipbuilding, and nuclear activities since they are highly durable. So, choose high-quality seamless pipes to meet your pipeline requirements.
