Coronavirus COVID-19: what to do with it and what to learn from it

So what is COVID-19 trying to tell us?

Pay attention
No other virus, war, natural disaster or other similar adversity has managed to attract collective attention in such a powerful way for a long time. The question of what exactly we should pay attention to is a complex one (as there are many things we’ve been sweeping under the rug). But it is not wonderful that we are forced to slow down, stay home and (hopefully) reflect without distraction on what is important, what is valuable and what is worth spending a lifetime on. Of course, if we waste this precious time looking at cute puppies and posting stupid videos on Facebook instead of paying attention to what really matters, we are missing the point here.
We are all connected (also known as “A Unity Lesson”)

If we ever need proof that we are all connected and that everything we touch (both literally and metaphorically) is connected to everything else, now we have it. Finally (and hopefully) a great understanding is beginning to emerge in us: we can no longer continue to “pee” at one end of the pool (ie the Planet) and go swimming at the other end thinking our shit won’t catch up with us We all swim in the same pool and everything we do in that pool comes back to us. Therefore, bringing “dirty” production from Europe to China (and this is just one of the millions of examples of separation) cannot and does not serve Europe (or any other continent). Because shit inevitably comes back, as the spread of the virus is clearly illustrated. By the way, isn’t it remarkable that a situation that requires social isolation (i.e., apparent separation) actually intensifies the feeling that we are all connected, that we are all in this (and in everything else) together!
It’s time for renewal
The old structures need to be torn down so we can start again (hopefully with a new conscience, albeit with few resources). At first glance, it is no accident that the virus has so far targeted the lives of primarily older people with one, two, or more pre-existing conditions, meaning these people should have been dead a while ago if they hadn’t been for artificial ways to extend life. But artificial life-saving resources are now running out (without breathing machines, without medical personnel or other supplies). So that should make us rethink the life-saving technologies that so many people have come to trust and, as a result, have given up their personal health responsibilities. What about focusing on disease prevention plans in place (when the pandemic is over): healthy eating, exercise, meditation, etc.? How many people would have heart disease and diabetes (the two main conditions that go hand in hand with COVID-19 deaths) if there were no junk food or modern stress?
Get comfortable with death by making every moment of life count
Death in itself is not a tragedy. Rather, a wasted life is a tragedy. A person who has lived with integrity, has contributed significantly to himself and to society, and has maintained quality relationships throughout his life, does not regret it. This type of person is ready to die at any time and happily. Become that person yourself. Re-evaluate your priorities and start spending time on what matters. Let go of the grudge. Begin to feel that you are connected to all other human beings. Forgive. Feel more love and less resentment. Stop living a tragic life and your death will not be tragic either. Both can be a celebration.
So these are some of the messages that I think we need to hear right now. Of course, there are many other things to consider and many more will be revealed to us in the course of this experience. This is why we must remain flexible, watch carefully (pay attention), ask smart questions, and continue to search for their answers in depth. In this way, we are really taking advantage of the situation by cleaning our own luggage. Any other behavior (for example, impatience, frustration, anger, and wanting this to end so things are “normal” again) is immature. We need a change of consciousness (to change the virus) and if we resist, the virus will persist.
