Three new free PlayStation Plus games have gone released, covering the most recent round of gaming preferences. For PS Plus users, the racing game Grid Legends, the cooperative strategy game Chivalry 2, and the downhill cycling game Descenders will all be available in May 2023.
Fans of racing should definitely check out Grid Legends. The fifth installment of the Grid franchise, which was recently released last year, is possibly the best one yet. A cinematic story mode, cross-platform multiplayer for up to 22 players, and a creativity suite that enables you to create your own tracks are all features of Grid Legends. It’s a good one to check out whether you’re an avid racing fan or a casual player because it’s a hybrid arcade-simulation racer with a variety of settings. Grid Legends’ PS4 and PS5 versions will both be available in basketball stars for purchase.
For those who enjoy extreme sports, Descenders is recommended viewing in May. The fundamental hook of the downhill cycling game is to ride your bike quickly. To keep things interesting, this mountain biking game has randomly generated trails. Additionally, your bike’s unique variations make use of roguelike elements. Whether you play Descenders by yourself or with buddies online, it is entertaining. It’s also one of those sports games that’s quite simple to learn, but you need to put in the effort to truly grasp its distinctive style.
Chivalry 2 is a completely distinct genre of multiplayer game. With 64 other players, you play as a medieval warrior across vast battlefields. Chivalry 2 is a gory, quick-paced first-person game with more than 30 different weapons, a rich class and sub-class system, and mounts. On a horse, you can trample your rivals.
Start from May 2
Along with our first hands-on observations, the first information dump for GRID Legends by EA and Codemasters has just arrived. It appears to be an approachable, obnoxious racing game.
However, it’s also shockingly big, offering a huge selection of cars, settings, weather conditions, modes, and even two careers to explore. Here is everything we currently understand about it prior to its publication. As soon as we learn more, we’ll keep you informed.
For PC (Steam and Origin), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, GRID Legends will be available on February 25, 2022.
The game Chivalry: Medieval Warfare’s successor, Chivalry 2, created by Torn Banner Studios and Tripwire.
Chivalry II contains various new elements that allow for a fresh set of warfare strategies and will support up to 64 players.
In March 2020, the closed alpha stage started. It was available on June 8, 2021, on the Epic Games Store, and on June 12, 2022, on Steam.
The Xbox Game Pass version of Chivlary 2 was available on October 4th, 2022.
A multiplayer first-person slasher game called Chivalry 2 was inspired by grand medieval film fights. Every famous moment of the time is brought to life for players, including thunderous cavalry rushes, fiery arrow storms, sweeping castle sieges, and more.
Take control of expansive 64-player battlefields. In the return of Team Objective maps, the ground torn apart as you lay siege to castles, destroy villages, and massacre dirty peasants. With your sword, charge into battle on horseback! Battle for AMP!
Descenders casts players as stunt cycle rookies. After training and the chance to sign with one of three cosmetic gear sponsors. It’s off to ride random downhill events.
Three criteria—degree of slope, amount of curves, and number of stunt setups—used to generate the courses at random. The level selection screen shows each event as a bar, allowing players to choose the one that suits them best. Descenders rewards risk-taking with extra lives, which is vital as the biomes get more deadly and complicated. This allows players to be somewhat strategic with their runs.
The player has a specific quantity of health at the beginning of each run. A point is lost if they crash their bike. Two can be lost in a high-speed collision or a long fall. There is a twist: rather than each course having its own challenge. The player gave criteria and allowed to choose which map would give them the best chance of meeting the challenge (or if they want to go after it at all!) Completing the ‘challenges’ that appear in each new stage of the event is the only way to recover health points.
For instance, the steepest courses are the only ones that can accommodate a high-speed aim of 65KPH. If a player chooses a track without many stunt leaps, they are unlikely to ever succeed in landing two backflips. It’s one more way the game gives players the impression that they are making meaningful choices than just overcoming random challenges.
A’rep’ meter for the player is also available at the bottom of the screen. Moreover, every time they complete a task—a stunt, a skid, or keeping their pace up—the total rep rises. Allow them to steadily climb the rankings. Actually, the catch is that 1% of the player’s overall reputation deducted for each crash. Five percent of the run’s points lost if the player runs out of lives before reaching the finish line.
Even though this is a roguelike, there are tangible consequences for poor play. Unless players are exceptionally skillful, it’s sometimes preferable to play it safe. Attempt low-risk courses to increase their score without running the risk of suffering a punitive loss of reputation. Players repeatedly fail will fall in the rankings, forcing them to work their way back up if they want to keep unlocking new features.
Descenders merely makes a minor error in the course randomization process. The constantly updated runs feel distinct despite the well-known turns and acrobatics. Although, the game engine should be aware of countless combinations that it isn’t.
For example, a lot of stunts require the player to build up their speed before they can accomplish. There is no way for the player to possible clear those stunts if they appear on a circuit with a moderate incline following a few hairpin turns. The second fantastic feature in Descenders – there’s never any penalty for going off-track – makes it irritating but not game-breaking.
Players can dodge any stunt they choose. Additionally, go through any trees, or go down any drop to pick up the course again a few turns later, if they don’t feel like it. This degree of freedom allows for a lot of creativity. The track is only a suggestion. While its wooden ramps and earthen mounds provide excellent stunt chances, the game works just as well. If the player prefers to entirely disregard them and ride downhill, slaloming between trees and boulders. Even ‘trackless’ races allow the participant to choose their own path to the finish line.
Descenders is another successful attempt to apply roguelike ideas to new genres with its precise controls, accurate physics, and stunts. The player’s choice of overworld maps and the risk-based scoring system take it to a higher level. The randomly generated courses and excellent downhill play alone could never do that for sure. Fans of the stunt bike experience must not miss this.
