Over the last decade, the tech industry and the global market is shifting to digital platforms. Moreover, with a global health crisis in 2020, restricting travel, most professions are oriented to working from home and remote access. Hence, our daily routine relies on science and technology.
Innovations initiate a paradigm shift in our lives, and change starts with the smallest aspects. Paperwork and documentation form a critical part, and more importantly, it works authorization through signature.
The introduction of class iii digital signature certificate has revolutionized how the notary process works. Modern-day transactions recognise electronic documents with digital signatures as alternatives to handwritten signatures. The transition has significantly benefitted notaries and common people.
Digital signatures use a unique combination of characters, arranged asymmetrically. Official authorization procedures now recognize the authenticity of the Digital Signature Certificate legally.
However, the verification follows a two-step process. The first algorithm generates a private key for the user’s signature. Another public key for verification follows it.
The class iii certificates are available for both individuals and organizations, offering the highest cryptographic security. It finds wide-scale usage in the e-commerce domain and public logins.
However, the certifying authorities can only issue the signature if the individual appears physically before them.
It is fair to have inhibitions over authorizing documents without physically realising who receives the documents. The physical connection ensues faith, but class iii digital signature certificate is highly secure, and the encryption protects the information until it reaches the recipient. Moreover, it is a popular verification process in e-procurement and e-tendering.
The process starts with an order and a payment. The applicants need to fill out the DSC Application form with their particulars and a handwritten signature. After that, it submits the form to the registration authority for official enrolment.
Once you turn in your form, the authorities set the enrolment process in motion through the Certification Authority’s portal. They review your DSC request along with verification of formal documents. Often, the RA requests a video or mobile verification before proceeding.
The applicant receives a web link to complete the video verification at a stipulated time. The steps follow the submission and review of all the forms and other documents. You can use any device for the verification, as long as it supports a camera and internet connection.
Once the video verification concludes, it is necessary to verify the applicant’s mobile number. It is a standard step, which requires a text message from the registered mobile number in a specified format.
Following successful verification, the applicant can download the DSC using an authentication code they will receive. However, it is important to note that digital certificate services can be stored only in e-token storage devices.
The e-Token storage devices are password-protected standard USB drives containing the DSC. The encryption layer ensures you do not lose the signature in case you format your device or change your browser.

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs mandates that any individual having signing authority and files return with the ROC should have a DSC. The primary targets are directors, auditors, corporate secretaries, bank officials, etc. The signature is valid for a year and unique to each individual. Hence, professionals can use it to authorize forms and applications at multiple companies.
It offers high security for online transactions. Hence, your data and information are secure and encrypted over the internet until the recipient views it. In an internet-dominated era, where privacy is paramount, class iii certificates assure that no one or nothing interferes with your transaction or personal information.
