Changing the season it is necessary to review our clothes, take a good look at what we use and what we have to forget. For this, Fran Torres, Image Consultant, Fashion Consultant and expert in closet organization and organization, gives us the best advice to use and store everything we have in a better way.

What surprises you about the closet order today?

As Image Consultant I have had to see many and what surprises me most are those of people between 20 to 30 years old, as they still do not have as much expense (most are single or living with friends and without children) they buy a lot and save a lot, Most are good for shopping, but when entering the closet, the disorder is high impact. Unlike people who have been living alone for years, have children or form a family nucleus. The organization is more practical and of course, the purchases decrease a little more, because the budget is more limited.

How to preserve and take better care of our clothes in the closet?

Ironing is a necessary evil: it tends to spoil clothes when too much heat is applied or they fade when we go over the seams a lot. I’ve seen people iron vests! You don’t do it.

Hot water is not recommended to use for washing because it tends to shrink clothes, better warm or cold water.

Shirts and blouses: post-wash to dry, hang them on a hanger, so ironing will be easier.

Dress pants: they are hung so that they do not wrinkle and are always impeccable.

Gabardine pants or jeans: folded

T-shirts, poler ones, tops, etc: folded (for colors interspersed and I recommend putting aromatic sachets with soft aromas)

Underwear: in a drawer or special plastic box, do not mix with other clothing. Bras, briefs, and underpants are garments that go in the most delicate area of our body, sometimes we use a polerón and we put it back if we have everything in the same drawer or space we can contract an infection.

Socks and pantyhose: they go together, beware if after months the brother of a sock did not appear: reuse it but do not keep it anymore, I have seen compartments that look like an orphanage: full of “cute socks”

Vests and sweaters: folded and if possible with naphthalene when it is moth season, it may have a very strong smell but it keeps the vests in good condition.

Coats and suits: always hanging, it is important that these two items are in hangers that retain their shape on the shoulders, if they use any hanger the part of the back can be wrinkled a lot, modifying their fit.

Would you tell us some tips to organize clothes

The full winter and full summer clothes are stored when we are not in the appropriate season (regardless of global warming and climate changes, do not leave some wellies in the middle of summer or a sarong in the middle of winter)

In the closet, it is separated by type. For example, T-shirts, tops, bibs (inserting colors); poler ones, cardigans, sweaters (interspersing colors); jeans, shorts, gabardine skirts or jeans; hanging are dresses, shirts, blouses, dress pants, coats, and party clothes.

No more than four garments can be hung on a hanger because sometimes we forget what we have because they are covered with so many clothes.

To use all the clothes and that you do not forget what you have, I recommend that every time you are at the moment of putting the freshly washed clothes into the closet, you order them leaving them below and not on top. This is because normally in a compartment we have all the t-shirts we always use the ones that are most visible or on top and when we put the clean clothes back we leave them on top, well lift the tower of t-shirts and put them down, so you use all your shirts and you don’t get stuck or stuck in one or two.

What is the best way to store vests?

To store any wool garment you have to take into account the material and color.

First, if it is made of angora (those furry ones) or 100% alpaca, fine specks usually come off that can dirty other clothes, especially black ones. So those sweaters better keep them in cloth bags. All other vests can be stored folded. The vests, in general, are jason statham jacket in hobbs and shaw because they are enlarged.

Ideal to have naphthalene both in summer when you are going to store it for a couple of months and in winter when you are using it, you can mix it with some lavender bags so that it does not stay with that strong smell. Chile is a country of moths and sometimes we don’t realize how our clothes are eaten!
