Behavioral optometry refers to eye treatment, which is related to vision rather than eyesight. A behavioral optometrist uses different techniques in order to provide relief from the problem of vision to the patient. A behavioral optometrist has to check the quality of vision for far and near objects and sharpness of the vision. Near vision includes reading a book, working on the computer, and focus on something for a long time, and many more.
Behavioral optometry is a good option for all types of patients but it is more suitable for people having the problem in eye motor control, developmental delays, lazy eyes, problems in leaning, problems in reading, etc.

The measurement of normal eyesight is 20/20. This denotes that you will be able to see objects at a certain distance. Both of these processes are used in performing various routine tasks like reading, driving, walking, and many others. These actions have a direct link to the memory and an image of the object that a person sees is created. The sensory modality is regulated by thalamus, which is a part of the brain.
The candidate has to learn about vision from the infant and go through different stages like child, teenage, adult. This is one of the major portions of behavioral optometry. The vision in a child will be abnormal if there is a reduction in physical play. Another thing is that the child should be allowed to explore the world. If it will be limited, it can also affect the vision.
The development of the vision will also be abnormal if the child is already facing some deficiencies like short or long-sightedness or lazy eye, this can also be the cause of abnormality in relation to the development of vision.
A child will have different types of problem if he faces difficulty in his vision. He will find difficulty in reading and writing though all these things do not have any relation to the intelligence of the child.
One of the goals that a behavioural optometrist has to achieve is to improve the vision of such patients by developing visual abilities. These abilities can be developed with the help of vision therapy, which should be performed according to the age of the patient.
Many adults may also have vision problems especially when they have faced such problems in their childhood. The problem that adults may face includes blurred vision, double vision, and many others. Vision may also be disturbed due to brain injury.
These are some of the problems that can be resolved with the help of behavioral optometry. The optometrist has to learn about everything regarding the vision from infant to adult. He should also be aware of various problems so that solutions can be found easily.
