Winter gloves have completely different features than normal weather gloves. They are designed with proper insulation, water repellent properties, and dexterity. However, it is not so easy to find out the best winter gloves among the hundreds of products.

Are you heading to buy a pair of winter gloves? Can you share the purpose, please? Whether you need it as apparel or you need a pair for work purposes, you should be specific enough while making your purchase.

This is because there is a big difference between the warm gloves for construction workers and warm gloves for driving purposes. Let’s find how.

3 Different Materials Used For Different Purpose Gloves

  1. Woolen materials: Woolen winter gloves are primarily used as apparel. The reasons are plenty. Woolen fiber is flexible, soft and warm, adding some extra comfort to the wearer. In addition to this, woolen fiber can trap air or moisture. It contains moisture-absorbing power, turning out to be an excellent insulating material with 100% air circulation. The material even has some antibacterial properties, proving extreme protection from the germs and diseases.

For manufacturing woolen apparels, Merino wool is prominently used due to its high-quality features. However, the material is very much expensive, allowing the buyers to think twice before making a purchase.

  2. Synthetic materials: Synthetic materials are primarily used for work gloves. For example, the winter construction gloves that require 100% thermal insulation, 100% water resistant, and 100% protection.

Synthetic work gloves for winter are either made of fleece material or made of synthetic rubber, PVC, and neoprene. Fleece gloves possess warm and easy to dry feature, thus turning out to be an ideal pair of work gloves during cold weather conditions. These gloves are primarily used for climbing and skiing in the cold-wet days. However, these gloves are not windproof as they possess a thinner material with extreme dexterity.

Here comes the replacement – the synthetic gloves made of rubber or PVC. These add more comfort and more flexibility features than the fleece material. These synthetic material is prominently used to manufacturewarm gloves for construction workers.

  3. Leather materials: Next in the list is the leather material. Leather is the best partner of the cold environment. It makes a perfect fit and hence the material is widely used to produce different apparel.

Leather gloves provide a good grip, teamed with a waterproof, cold-proof, puncture, abrasion-resistant, flexibility, and durability features. The best thing about leather is, it can work best even if the temperature goes as low as -180 degree C. However, even leather comes with some handful of drawbacks.

Leather gloves are waterproof only when they are treated with a water-repellent.

The quality of leather gloves depends on the animal skin you choose.
Leather gloves offer cut-resistance properties.
Wet leather gloves are hard to dry and do not offer proper water-repellent properties.
