Few are the occasions, and also the professions, in which the rules require the use of a rigorous trouser suit and full jacket, so that the sports jacket, although it is not exactly sports, has a crucial role in the wardrobe of a man of today. Pivoting on it are multiple elements that ensure that it has the ability to perform various functions, such as updating rarely worn garments, assembling new looks, and at the same time maintaining a formal and elegant image when appropriate, or more casual if circumstances require it.

With its four or five buttons, its belt, and its bellows pockets, it was the perfect combination between an elegant appearance and a comfortable use appropriate for life in the country.

This type of jacket became popular in the first decades of the 20th century. Among cricket players, flannel jackets with Platon pockets spread, and on the other hand, so-called blazers became fashionable, which we will talk about on another occasion. All of them contributed to the popularization of the jacket as an individual element, with a life separate from the pants and that could be made of fabrics particularly appropriate for it, such as tweed in its infinite versions, cheviot, houndstooth, a prince from Wales, twill, corduroy, herringbone … Although not necessarily in the same quality of the fabric or the same color as those used to make a suit, since the sports jacket admits, for example, more textures thick and different colors (for example a Prince of Wales is preferable in brown or tan if it is in a sports jacket and in gray if it is a suit).

In any case, the elaboration of a jacket follows some rules that should not be ignored and that must be kept in mind when choosing in a store or when going to the tailor. First of all, the back of the jacket should be wide enough so that the outer part of the sleeve falls freely and folds perpendicularly without causing large wrinkles. It should also be wide enough on the chest so that it can be comfortably fastened, remaining comfortable even when sitting. If the leather jackets with hoodie for men has two buttons, only the top button is fastened; if it has three buttons, the middle one and perhaps the upper one. In neither case is the lower button fastened.
