Why Is AOL Not Working On Outlook?

AOL is one of the most widely used email services, however, accessing it through some third-party email clients like Outlook, can sometimes create a problem. Also, in the recent past, AOL has updated its email services so as to provide users with a more secure email experience along with providing more emphasis on end-to-end encryption, thus, ensuring full privacy to the users. Along with several changes, AOL also declared that users may face AOL not working on Outlook or on any other email client problem, once the new changes came into effect. Therefore, users are required to update their AOL settings within the email client in which they are using it.

Following is listed the method to update AOL settings in Outlook (all versions above 2007) for computers. To get deep knowledge of the changes being made and how they can improve your experience with AOL mail, better visit the emailspedia website.

If your AOL Mail problems today with Outlook, then here’s what you need to do:

  1. Launch the Outlook desktop version on your computer.
  2. Go to the “Files” option and then “Account Settings”.
  3. Within the Account Settings window, click on “Accounts Settings”.
  4. If you have more than 1 email account added to Outlook, select the AOL account from the given list.
  5. Thereafter click on the “Change” button.
  6. Click on “More Settings” in the POP and IMAP Account Settings window.
  7. Go to the Outgoing server window and check the “My Outgoing server (SMTP requires authentication) option.
  8. Within the Advanced tab, the following are the server settings that you need to ensure when AOL not working on Outlook:

1. Account Type: IMAP

  • Incoming Server (IMAP): 993
  • Encrypted Connection: SSL or SSL/TLS
  • Outgoing Server (SMTP): 587 or 465
  • Encrypted Connection: SSL, SSL/TLS, TLS, or Auto.

2. Account Type: POP

  • Incoming Server (IMAP): 995
  • Encrypted Connection: SSL or SSL/TLS
  • Outgoing Server (SMTP): 587 or 465
  • Encrypted Connection: SSL, SSL/TLS, TLS, or Auto.
