It is essential to properly arrange your kids backpack as it has a link between home and school. If your kids have a problem with organizing it, you must consider it as important and guide him/her to grow the habit of organizing their backpack. It can sometimes be overloaded with unnecessary stuff so it is crucial to arrange them according to daily needs. It is the responsibility of parents to teach their kids how to organize their backpack before going to school so they don’t miss anything important for the class.

Here are a few techniques to guide your kids to organize their backpacks, which are as follows-

  • Choose Exact Size and Design: Before start arranging your kids backpack, it is important to find the right one with exact design, shape, and size. As it is difficult for kids to carry large backpacks to schools back on their shoulders. You must select a hardy backpack, which has multiple compartments and zipper pockets for your kids. But if your kid finds it difficult to look out for things, you should opt for fewer zippers.
  • Begin with Empty Backpack: First, you need to empty the backpack of your kids, which is filled with unnecessary stuff and then start re-organizing it. You need to assemble all the necessary school supplies like a pencil, textbooks, pens, lunchbox, water bottle, and others, then put them on his/her backpack to avoid useless things packed inside and heavy to carry.
  • Maintain Luggage Tag Checklist: It is necessary to prepare a clear luggage tag to keep a record of things. It will guide your kids to follow the direction and easily get things he/she is in search of. A checklist is commonly made of red or blue markers, in which parents can create their own if needed. You should list their needs to arrange in the backpack before going to school or coming back home from school.
  • Backpack Drafting: After arranging the school supplies, draft a picture of your kid’s backpack and mark it with what goes where. It will help him/her to remember what goes where and pack up for the following day. They can even practice using the draft by first vacant the backpack and then put back everything in order. Also, you should keep a copy of the draft in the main zip of the backpack, and another one back at home.
  • Keep Away Extra Stuff At Home: One of the main reasons behind backpack disorder is carrying extra textbooks. Instead of loading your kids backpack with extra stuff keep them back at home to avoid extra weight that leads to shoulder pain. It is also easier for kids to stay organized and complete homework on-time by maintaining extra textbooks.
  • Schedule a Time to Arrange Backpack: Your kids need to stay organized. To avoid backpack mess, schedule a time for your child’s backpack check-ins. It is also a good habit that all parents should try to develop among their kids.

However, your kids might require a lot more practice to be systematic in maintaining their school backpacks. Therefore, you should share various useful techniques to stay organized with your kids. Also, offer your kids lots of alternatives to practice the habit of organizing their backpacks. You also must teach your kids how to properly load and wear backpacks to avoid back and shoulder pains.
